RightsCon Taipei: 24-27 February 2025
Each year, RightsCon convenes business leaders, policy makers, general counsels, government representatives, technologists, academics, journalists, and human rights advocates from around the world to tackle pressing issues at the intersection of human rights and technology. In engaging fireside chats, hands-on workshops, strategic roundtables, private meetings, and a lively exhibition space, RightsCon is where a global movement comes together to build strategies and drive forward change toward a more free, open, and connected digital world. Travel support
This application is for travel support allowance of USD1,500 for Sinar Project to select a member/potential member of civil society whom they can potentially train and collaborate with to attend RightsCon from 24-27 Feb 2025 at Taipei, Taiwan.
This travel support budget will be utilised for the participant’s flights, hotel accommodation, ground transportation, per diem and travel insurance, in accordance with our organisation’s existing travel policy.
The travel support will allow Sinar Project to mentor the selected individual through the process of attending RightsCon including in the run-up to the event and following the event, to enable the individual to gain experience and networks from the conference.
This is also a precursor to and a learning opportunity for Sinar Project’s work in 2025 on enabling civil society organisations to navigate tech and human rights through a possible fellowship programme and will provide insights on how this fellowship and partnership could work.
Eligibility Criteria
- Malaysian
- Has a legal background
- Ideally have at least 1 year of experience as a practicing lawyer (including pupillage or internship at a legal firm)
- Interested in the work of digital rights
- Independent and self-motivated; capable of learning new and challenging technical knowledge
- Able to submit a post-conference report
