Knowledge Management and Community Officer

Sinar Project is looking for candidates to join our team for knowledge management and help build or work with existing community of practice for civic tech and freedom of expression

Sinar Project is an award winning civic tech initiative using open technology, open data and policy analysis to systematically make important information public and more accessible. Our international work covers but is not limited to developing anti-corruption tools, data and investigative journalism and digital rights.

You will be working on supporting and working with our country and international partners to help capture and organize knowledge resources from the work of partners and their respective communities. You will be working closely with the Coordinator and team.

Additionally, you will also be supporting the development of the knowledge management systems in place.

The position provides opportunities for on the job learning with support from experienced colleagues and mentors.

Salary range RM3000-RM6000/month, with EPF, SOCSO and flexibility for remote work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and capture knowledge resources of Sinar Project and Freedom of Expression Cluster
  • Develop and support Community of Practice around Freedom of Expression partners
  • Be part of regional and international communities related to Sinar Project's work
  • To continuously improve and develop Sinar Project's NGO Knowledge Management system
  • To help prepare day to day communications updates and materials
  • To support Coordinator on related knowledge management tasks

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrate knowledge of digital archiving and organizational knowledge resource management skills
  • Knowledge of working with data, metadata and data structures
  • Usage of Google Docs, and other on-line collaborative tools
  • Good written and spoken Malay and English skills. (Optional: knowledge of Mandarin, Tamil and other languages spoken in Malaysia).
  • Experience with Plone CMS is advantageous (but not required)
  • Able to commute easily to Sinar Project's office in Subang Jaya  (near SS15 LRT and KTM Subang Jaya Station). Successful candidates can also chose to work remotely from home.
